The agency has been appointed to handle the PR for a unique global cycling challenge.  WorldRide will see amateur cyclist Liz Dimmock tackle over 29,968 km over 150 days in an attempt to become the fastest woman to circumnavigate the world by bicycle.

Starting in October in Istanbul, she will traverse over 22 countries including Turkey, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, UK, France, Spain, Portugal, US, New Zealand, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Oman, and the UAE.  Her aims are to raise £1m for charity and to inspire women to cycle.  We launched the project at an exclusive media and stakeholder event at the Rapha Cycle Club in Soho, London at the end of last month.

Rule 5 will deliver global awareness campaign for the campaign which is sponsored by Jaguar, JLT, Cycleguard, Rapha, Condor, Bremont and Matt Roberts Personal Training.  Liz Dimmock, said: “WorldRide are delighted to be working with the Rule 5 team,…we needed a PR company that could work with all of our partners, and be proficient across all forms of media, and their numerous platforms.”

Lucy is Employee Number Five at Rule 5

Rule 5 has appointed Sheffield University graduate Lucy Murgatroyd to the role of Account Executive.   Prior to joining Lucy was at MC2 where she worked on a range of clients in the education and health sectors.  Lucy who joined on July 1st reports in to Senior Account Manager, Carolanne Bamford.

Speaking on the new team member, Director, Julie Wilson, said: “We’re thrilled that Lucy has joined the team and will be with us as we embark on the next phase of the agency’s development.”  Lucy is the third new recruit to Rule 5 this year and brings the staff numbers at the agency that launched eight months ago to five.

Rule 5 has  moved to new premises in MediaCityUK.   Following the launch of the business at the end of last year, the company has relocated from The Greenhouse to The Landing; the latest state-of-the-art development in MediaCityUK which spans over 53,500 sq ft and seven floors of the Blue Tower.

Speaking on the relocation Rule 5 Director, Julie Wilson, said: “It was in our plans to move offices at the end of this year, however just six months into the business we found we had outgrown our launch premises.  “The Landing is the perfect location for Rule 5, ensuring we’re still at the heart of MediaCityUK.  We’re looking forward to expanding the team and entering the next phase of Rule 5’s development.”

Rule 5 launched in November 2012 and boasts clients in the sport, finance, TV production, food and lifestyle sectors.   The agency specialises in PR and digital communications and was recently awarded Best Newcomer in the 2013 Prolific North Awards.

Rule 5 collected the Best Newcomer at the inaugural Prolific North Awards at a dinner attended by over 600 creative and media professionals from across the north of England.  Over 150 different companies and organisations were there from small agencies (like us!) to national broadcasters.

The winner was drawn from a shortlist of eight agencies representing PR, design and digital which have all launched within the last eighteen months.  The event took place at The Point at Lancashire County Cricket Club. The judging panel drawn from prominent figures from the media and creative business community stated that the agency has “made noise and become a recognised player in the market …in four months.”  Other award winners on the night included Cheetham Bell JWT and ITV.

Raw Cut hands PR Brief to Rule 5

Raw Cut, the specialist factual independent TV production company behind dynamic and compelling series such as Police Interceptors and Road Wars, has appointed the MediaCityUK based Rule 5 to handle a new PR brief.  “Rule 5 will be working with us on a PR strategy that focuses not just on Raw Cut as a company but some of our latest output” said Company Director Steve Warr. “The brief has an international dimension as we are increasingly looking beyond the UK to market our programmes”.

Rule 5 launched last November. It has in a short space of time, established a reputation in the sporting world for its work with British Cycling.  However this is a return to his roots for Rule 5 Managing Partner Rob Brown, who has previously worked extensively with media companies including ITV, Channel Four and Endemol.  “We don’t specialise” he said “but we are establishing a portfolio in culture, media and sport”.

Raw Cut is known for combining creative invention with rigorous storytelling, journalistic integrity and developing new ways of making television. Rule 5 will be helping the Soho based TV company promote genuinely ground-breaking programming.
