Rule 5 has appointed Sheffield University graduate Lucy Murgatroyd to the role of Account Executive.   Prior to joining Lucy was at MC2 where she worked on a range of clients in the education and health sectors.  Lucy who joined on July 1st reports in to Senior Account Manager, Carolanne Bamford.

Speaking on the new team member, Director, Julie Wilson, said: “We’re thrilled that Lucy has joined the team and will be with us as we embark on the next phase of the agency’s development.”  Lucy is the third new recruit to Rule 5 this year and brings the staff numbers at the agency that launched eight months ago to five.

Rule 5 Moves to The Landing

Rule 5 at The Landing

Rule 5 has  moved to new premises in MediaCityUK.   Following the launch of the business at the end of last year, the company has relocated from The Greenhouse to The Landing; the latest state-of-the-art development in MediaCityUK which spans over 53,500 sq ft and seven floors of the Blue Tower.

Speaking on the relocation Rule 5 Director, Julie Wilson, said: “It was in our plans to move offices at the end of this year, however just six months into the business we found we had outgrown our launch premises.  “The Landing is the perfect location for Rule 5, ensuring we’re still at the heart of MediaCityUK.  We’re looking forward to expanding the team and entering the next phase of Rule 5’s development.”

Rule 5 launched in November 2012 and boasts clients in the sport, finance, TV production, food and lifestyle sectors.   The agency specialises in PR and digital communications and was recently awarded Best Newcomer in the 2013 Prolific North Awards.

Rule 5 Scores Best Newcomer Award

Prolific North Awards

Rule 5 collected the Best Newcomer at the inaugural Prolific North Awards at a dinner attended by over 600 creative and media professionals from across the north of England.  Over 150 different companies and organisations were there from small agencies (like us!) to national broadcasters.

The winner was drawn from a shortlist of eight agencies representing PR, design and digital which have all launched within the last eighteen months.  The event took place at The Point at Lancashire County Cricket Club. The judging panel drawn from prominent figures from the media and creative business community stated that the agency has “made noise and become a recognised player in the market …in four months.”  Other award winners on the night included Cheetham Bell JWT and ITV.

We’re Hiring in MediaCityUK

Rule 5

We’re hiring two PR people to join our start-up in MediaCityUK. We’ve only been here a few weeks but it’s an incredibly exciting location (the shot above was taken this week). We want a strong account executive (but we’d consider an account manager too).  You would ideally need consumer PR experience and an understanding of the use of social media in PR campaigns.  We want an ambitious personality with a determination to succeed and good writing skills are essential.  You can apply via our website.

PR Firm to Launch in Manchester this Week

On Friday ‘Rule 5’ will be Manchester’s (and the UK’s) newest public relations firm.  We have an office in MediaCityUK  and the infrastructure is all in place.  Manchester is a great city to be in right now.  A new study by Oxford Economics estimates that the region will see output growth of 3% by 2014, nearly 1% higher than the UK as a whole.  Media city also has a unique concentration of media and creative talent.  Needless to say we are excited.

We’ve been active on Twitter for a few weeks now and there are three questions that regularly come up:

1. Where will you be based?   –  We’ve answered that.

2. Will you be hiring?  – We will.  We are a small team but we’ll be announcing recruitment plans imminently.

3. Why are you called ‘Rule 5’ – We’re not going to give a straight answer to that but  there are five options.

Roll on Friday.
