Two of the team were at the BBC conference #SocialMediaWhatsTrending yesterday. There was much talk of user generated content (UGC) so we were inspired to create a little bit. We have quite a good view over the ship canal here at MediaCityUK. We propped an iPhone on the window ledge and set up the Time Lapse Camera HD app to capture twenty minutes of the vista at dusk. We uploaded the video to a PC and using the free Windows Live Movie Maker we added a title caption, some music and trimmed the video. About 15 minutes work. We shared it here. Stay with it for the full 18 seconds for a couple of boats at the end.

Another International Sports Win for Rule 5
The agency has secured a double-event brief from British Cycling. Taking place just over a month apart, Rule 5 will handle the PR and social media the UCI Track Cycling World Cup Manchester and British Cycling National Track Championships, which will be held at Manchester’s National Cycling Centre, this September and November.
British Cycling Cycle Sport Marketing Manager, Paul Rowlands, said of the agency; “This was a competitive tender but Rule 5’s creative, hands-on approach stood out and has delivered impressive results for British Cycling in the past. We’re happy to welcome the team on-board again ahead of the autumn/winter’s action-packed track cycling calendar.” Launched in November 2012, Rule 5 also handled the PR and social media for the recent UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, which took place in April. The new track cycling brief follows another recent successful international sporting account win for the agency; the Taekwondo Grand Prix.
Rule 5’s Julie Wilson, added; “We’re delighted to be working with British Cycling again ahead of the Track World Cup and National Track Championships. Working on last year’s World Cup in Glasgow certainly whet Rule 5’s appetite for live cycling events and we’re excited to be helping to bring another one to our home city in 2013.”

We’re Getting in Gear for WorldRide
The agency has been appointed to handle the PR for a unique global cycling challenge. WorldRide will see amateur cyclist Liz Dimmock tackle over 29,968 km over 150 days in an attempt to become the fastest woman to circumnavigate the world by bicycle.
Starting in October in Istanbul, she will traverse over 22 countries including Turkey, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, UK, France, Spain, Portugal, US, New Zealand, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Oman, and the UAE. Her aims are to raise £1m for charity and to inspire women to cycle. We launched the project at an exclusive media and stakeholder event at the Rapha Cycle Club in Soho, London at the end of last month.
Rule 5 will deliver global awareness campaign for the campaign which is sponsored by Jaguar, JLT, Cycleguard, Rapha, Condor, Bremont and Matt Roberts Personal Training. Liz Dimmock, said: “WorldRide are delighted to be working with the Rule 5 team,…we needed a PR company that could work with all of our partners, and be proficient across all forms of media, and their numerous platforms.”
Our very own Julie Wilson, added: “We’re thrilled to be working with Liz & the team, it’s an incredible challenge for a cause that’s very close to our heart.”
